  • a healthy mind-body connection

What is Reiki?

Derived from the Japanese ‘rei’ meaning ‘universal source, spirit’ and ‘ki’ meaning ‘life force, energy’, Reiki is an ancient healing system that harnesses universal energy for powerful, yet gentle healing.

It was in the early 1900’s that Dr Mikao Usui developed the Usui Reiki System, and today it is one of the most widely used Reiki systems in the world.

Reiki is a complementary treatment that induces a state of inner peace and deep relaxation allowing for easier resolution and release of emotional issues and blockages. This also accelerates the body’s own natural ability to heal itself.

What can I expect from my first Reiki appointment?

Your practitioner will begin by taking a detailed history ensuring full understanding. This usually takes around 30 minutes. Only on completion of this history, with all the facts, will the practitioner suggest a treatment plan for you.

Often the practitioner will also take a chakra reading to establish further information.

Reiki treatments involve a very gentle, light touch which has an energising and balancing effect on the recipient. This treatment is given over the clothes, mainly via hands-on healing at a variety of specific positions along the body.

Clients are suggested to wear comfortable clothing.

How many Reiki treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies from client to client. In general, anywhere between 3 to 10 treatments will produce significant benefits. Treatments may be required daily, weekly, or monthly. As with any case, it is important to have a consultation before a treatment plan is suggested for your personal situation.
